J.C. Barnes collection
Scope and Contents
The J.C. Barnes collection contains the personal records, field books, textbooks, and photographs of Professor J.C. "Daddy" Barnes. Of note are his field books which contain campus surveys including one of the drill field, survey work from his time at Harvard Engineering Camp (1904-1905), and some student work. The personal records include some college related correspondence and a scrapbook created by former students for Barnes's retirement in 1970.

Biographical note
John Clements "Daddy" Barnes was born in Warms Springs, Georgia in 1880. He worked at North Georgia College for almost 50 years serving in many capacities. During this time he served as the head of the Mathematics Department, ran the college farm, served as a finance officer, and supervised the construction of the old gymnasium and drill field. Barnes passed of February 8, 1970.
