Scope and Contents
This collection contains photographs, a scrapbook, clippings, and books collected by the Lewis family. Of note are a scrapbook of letters and clippings created by David W. Lewis and photographs of COL Lewis, his daughters Mary and Martha, and one of COL Lewis's mother, Martha H. Lewis.

Biographical/Historical note
The Lewis family was instrumental in the creation of North Georgia Agricultural College. David W. Lewis served as the first president of the school from 1873 until his death in 1885. His daughter, Willie Lewis Littlefield, was the first female graduate of the school and his daught Mary Lewis Crusselle graduated shortly after Willie. Additionally, his son-in-law Henry H. Perry was an instructor at the school in the first year and his son-in-law W. F. Crusselle was a member of the first graduating class. Both Mary and Willie Lewis taught at NGAC after graduating.
