John Gagnon Collection
Scope and Contents
The John Gagnon collection includes correspondence, photographs, international sales trip reports, newspaper clippings and marketing materials covering John Gagnon's agricultural sales career between the years 1949-1990. The focus of the collection is primarily his role in the sale of equipment for the intensive poultry farming industry. The collection also includes personal papers, and records of his role with the Poultry Industry Manufacturers Council (PIMCO). Of note is the extensive collection of business and personal correspondence with Japanese company Omiya-Seisakusho, a professional relationship and friendship that spanned his career. Also noteworthy are the highly detailed trip reports describing his experiences during international sales trips. The collection is of particular interest to researchers studying the development of industrial scale poultry farming, international sales, and agricultural engineering.

Collection is mostly in English. There are several marketing brochures in Japanese and one magazine article in Spanish.

The collection spans John Gagnon's professional career and consists of thirteen series, organized mainly by employer: AMMCO, A.R. Wood, B.E.C. Inc, Bramco, Farmer Automatic, General, Oakes Manufacturing, Omiya Seisakusho, Personal Papers, PIMCO, Smith- Douglass, Waco Porter, Watt Publishing. The folders within each subseries are arranged into correspondence, photographs, clippings, slides, etc.
