Historical note
The Gainesville State College Women's Organization (GSCWO) is a chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC). GSCWO sought to "foster social interest among members and to support the functions of Gainesville State College as an educational, social, and cultural influence in the community." The organization raised money for scholarships and local charities and hosted at least two meetings per semester. Some of the annual events included a Christmas Luncheon, a car show and an auction. They worked with Gateway House and Project Safe two safe houses in the area to provide them with materials needed for daily operations. The organization disbanded in 2013 with the consolidation of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College and State University.
